REIMAGINE 27: The Humanities Reimagined
International Conference: Intersections of Language, Literature, Technology, Education & Sustainability
5-6 February 2027. TIET, Patiala, India. Hybrid mode: attend in person or online.
About the conference
Moving past binaries such as human versus machine and development versus nature, The Humanities Reimagined aspires to be an interdisciplinary platform that works towards an ethical, inclusive and sustainable future for the humanities.
The conference offers a vibrant, synergetic and transformative space in which language, literature, technology, education and sustainability are examined not as separate domains but as fields that increasingly intersect.
The disciplines gathered here have been reshaped by the same pressures. Language and literature are being rewritten by machine translation and the shifting economics of publishing; education is negotiating a learner whose attention and tools have altered within a single generation; and sustainability has moved from the margins of cultural enquiry to its centre.
Treated separately, each appears as a problem of its own field; treated together, they describe a single shift in what the humanities are for. The conference therefore invites work that refuses the convenience of those binaries, and that describes honestly the ground on which the humanities now stand.
Objectives
- Build an interdisciplinary forum in which scholars, educators and practitioners examine the intersections named in the conference title.
- Encourage research that crosses the boundaries of these fields rather than observing them.
- Bring early-career researchers into conversation with established scholars from India and abroad.
- Produce a body of work that may be considered for publication.
